TAMALES (allow 24 hours)

We catered in lunch today for a coworker's birthday and WOW! We were all blown away with everything! The service was wonderful, the food was amazing (and hot!) - we will definitely order again. Tamales, fajitas, rice, beans, elotes, chips & salsa/guac, and tres leches cake. 10 stars!

Taco Tuesday with a Pina Margarita (absolutely in the running for one of the best margaritas I've ever had). There is something comforting about the term Taco Tuesday. As with so many drink and food creations everyone argues about how tacos and Tuesdays became linked- yet the tradition goes back to the 1930's when in the El Paso Herald-Post, under the classifieds section of the paper in October 1933, White Star Cafeteria created a weeklong campaign in order to let locals know that they were offering "Mexican tacos" each Tuesday. As a kid born in San Diego I can't remember if the term Taco Tuesday was used but Tuesday is when Mexican restaurants had tacos on sale and that would make us kids very excited. I first ran into the term in the 1970's as a hippie in Southern California. It seemed like every Mexican restaurant had a Taco Tuesday special. You can say I grew up on Taco Tuesday. I guess that's why I enjoy the al pastor tacos. It brings back memories beginning with childhood, through my hippie days right up to today. But Tecalitlan offers more than great comfort food that brings back memories. I am referring to the Pina Margarita. I can't think of having a spicy margarita before but from the first taste I knew I was about to start a love affair. Unique, bold and just plain delicious it isn't for everyone but if you like life spicy, it's for you.

Best in the city for over 40 years of going there. Steak is always tender and juicy, rice and beans are excellent. With a side of Nachos w/steak you have enough for lunch the next day. Great price for the amount of food. I had it delivered, fast and hot when received. I would recomend going there with friends for lunch or dinner and try their Margaritas.

TRIO (allow 2-3 hours)

I only had a short time and got the trio salsas, guac appetizer, and, of course, the margarita on the rocks with salt. I can't wait to go back and eat more food and have more margaritas. The salsas were not spicy enough to burn but sufficient to announce they were there. The guacamole was plentiful, and the chips were hot and crisp. My margarita is the best I've had anywhere in the city. I am so happy that Teca is back and in a great location; I look forward to returning.
